Maps
Planning the Overall
Canvassing Effort
Locator Maps display a geographic picture of
the total canvass area and includes all of the focus areas. For example, the figure below
displays the Non-Hispanic Black percentage
of each census tract by a different color. Census tracts colored
in dark orange represent areas with greater than 50% and less than 75% Non-Hispanic Black. The
labels represent the census tract identifier for the each focus area. Locator maps give drive managers
the information they need to prioritize and plan the overall canvassing
effort.
Voter Registration Maps
Finding Neighborhood Blocks with the
Highest
Concentrations of Unregistered Voters
To maximize the productivity of voter registration
canvassing, organizers need to know which neighborhoods (precincts or Census
block groups) inside their focus area hold the highest numbers of
not-registered citizens. Using our maps drive managers can easily view their
focus area for neighborhoods holding the highest estimated concentrations of unregistered
voters (Black, Latino, Asian, low income, etc.). The figure below
is a zoom within an area (Tract) displaying the Non-Hispanic Black percentage
of each census block by a different color. For example, census blocks colored
in red represent areas with greater than 75% Non-Hispanic Black. Furthermore,
the numerical label displays the estimated unregistered Black voters residing
in the census block. This will
give drive managers the information they need to select the proper areas (census
tracts, block groups, or precincts) for
canvassing.
Get-Out-the-Vote
(GOTV) Maps
Finding Neighborhood Blocks with the
Highest
Concentrations of Infrequent Voters
To help manage GOTV efforts we provide
Infrequent/Newly Registered Voter maps. These pin maps display a point
location for every voter who votes occasionally (blue dot) and every voter who
has recently registered to vote (green dot). Again, these maps help to manage GOTV
activities more efficiently.
Walk
Lists
Listing Addresses of Infrequent
or Newly Registered Voters
To increase the productivity of GOTV canvassing, organizers need to know which
households inside neighborhoods (precincts or Census
block groups) in their focus area to visit for GOTV. Using our Walk Lists, drive managers can easily
outline and track their GOTV efforts. Our Walk Lists are divided into manageable
canvass areas (block group, tract, or precinct) by street address.

A Note of
Caution:
There is no list of
unregistered but eligible citizens. Our mapping services for voter
registration programs display estimates of not-registered individuals
for various geographic areas (states, counties, cities, precincts, and blocks).
These estimates are derived from imperfect statistics and are labeled
“estimates” because they are not actual counts. Clients should treat
these estimates as rough guides to the relative concentrations of
not-registered or occasional voters in a specific area.
